Story Monsters Press hits a home run in Outstanding Creator Awards
Two Story Monsters authors were recently honored by the Outstanding Creator Awards. This year’s contest included nearly 70 contestants, making it one of the most competitive seasons yet.
Story Monsters Among Us, written by Conrad J. Storad and illustrated by Jeff Yesh, took home 1st place overall in the Best Children’s Book of Spring 2023 category and received honorable mention in the Illustrated and Picture Books category. This book whisks readers away on a journey spanning 50,000 years to discover the origins of storytelling.
Finding Joy by Raven Howell received 3rd place overall. This picture book tells the story of siblings who adopt an old dog from the local animal shelter. They embark on all kinds of adventures with Joy until one day, while the kids are at school, sweet Joy lays down for a nap and does not wake up.
The book also placed 3rd in the Children’s Motivational and Inspirational Books category and placed 1st in the Outstanding Creator Award for Pets category.
Finding Joy’s main character, Joy, received honorable mention in the Outstanding Creator Award for Best Supporting Character category and the Cutest Character category.

The winners of the 2022 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards have been announced by Story Monsters LLC. Celebrating excellence in children’s literature, this year’s Grand Prize Winner is The Power of Kindness Through the Eyes of Children by Ruth Maille.
Book lovers of all ages are invited to attend the annual Payson Book Festival for a day filled with books, authors, prizes and surprises. The festival will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino in Payson, Ariz.
“We focus on edu-taining children’s books and have built a team that has become a trusted resource for our clients,” said Linda F. What makes you monster magnificent? This is the question that students in grades two through seven answered in their poetry submissions to the Monster Magnificent Children’s Poetry Contest. Winners of the 2020 Story Monsters Approved program have been announced and How to Cure a Mine Monster by Brittany Plumeri, illustrated by Zuzana Svobodova, is the 2020 Story Monsters Approved Book of the Year. Selected from over 250 entries that earned a Story Monsters Approved designation this year, How to Cure a Mine Monster received a perfect score from the judges in the Picture Book category, one of the criteria for Book of the Year consideration.

CHANDLER, AZ (August 29, 2019)—Story Monster, the lovable, huggable mascot for Story Monsters LLC, is returning to the Children’s Learning & Play Festival on Sept. 7 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Focused on literacy, education and early childhood development, the festival is the perfect place for families to learn, explore and play together. Last year’s event attracted 13,000 attendees. This year, Story Monster will be part of the Story Monster & Friends Reading Zone, where “Reading Takes You Up, Up and Away!” with fun activities for children that center on the love of reading.
