Announcing the 2022 Purple Dragonfly Book Award Winners

CHANDLER, ARIZ. (July 15, 2022)—The winners of the 2022 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards have been announced by Story Monsters LLC. Celebrating excellence in children’s literature, this year’s Grand Prize Winner is The Power of Kindness Through the Eyes of Children by Ruth Maille.

A certified parent-relationship coach, Ruth Maille has owned and operated her own licensed daycare and preschool for over 30 years. Most recently, she has developed a passion for writing children’s books. Maille’s goal is to use her stories to empower children and help them achieve the individual greatness that each child has within. Her grand-prize-winning title, The Power of Kindness Through the Eyes of Children, helps kids to think beyond themselves by understanding they have the power to positively impact the world around them with a simple kind word or act. Part of The Power of book series, this book was selected for first place awards in three categories: Best Illustrations, Picture Books 5 & Younger and Picture Books 6 & Older.

All books that earned first place in the contest were entered into a drawing for a $100 prize. This year’s $100 drawing winner is The Wishner's Masquerade, written by Camille S. Campbell, a bestselling author, blogger, silk artist, poet and educational activist. Earning first place in the Young Adult Fiction category, this middle-grade action-adventure book is the second title in the Wishner Prophecy Trilogy.

The annual Purple Dragonfly Book Award Contest is a worldwide book competition that celebrates the best in traditionally-published, partnership-published and self-published children’s books in 56 categories—from Animals/Pets, Comic Books and Family Matters to Historical Fiction, Poetry and Special Needs/Disability Awareness.
