Story Monsters Sets Out to Recognize Educators with ‘Teacher of the Year’ Award

CHANDLER, ARIZ. (July 2020)—In special recognition of teachers—and the impact they make in the lives of students every day—Story Monsters LLC is excited to unveil a brand-new program, the Story Monsters® Teacher of the Year Award.

The contest, which opened in July 2020 and runs through next spring, is designed to recognize and give back to the teachers, administrators or support staff who have helped shape the lives of so many. To enter, students are encouraged to write an essay (500 words or less) explaining how their nominee has positively influenced their life or the lives of others and why they appreciate them.

“We all have that special teacher in our lives—the one who inspires you to believe in yourself, to follow your dreams, or takes the time to listen and serve as a mentor,” says Linda F. Radke, president of Story Monsters LLC. “At a time when it has become increasingly evident how vital teachers are in the lives of our children, we at Story Monsters feel it is imperative to give students a platform to recognize and honor the teachers who have helped change their lives.”

Interested students will have until March 1, 2021 to submit their entries, which is open for teachers in the U.S. and Canada. The Grand Prize winner of the Story Monsters Teacher of the Year Award will be notified by Friday, April 30, 2021 and will receive a $250 classroom grant, $100 credit toward the purchase of any books available in the Story Monsters online store, and a feature story in the June 2021 issue of Story Monsters Ink® magazine—the award-winning resource for teachers, parents, and librarians. Story Monsters will also select a runner up, who will receive $150 credit towards the purchase of any books available in the Story Monsters online story and a special mention in Story Monsters Ink®.
