Is Your Story Ready for a Global Audience?

Story Monsters Press is proud to represent outstanding children’s books for publication in Mainland China through our publishing partnership with Shaanxi Science and Technology Press, one of China’s respected educational publishers.

This collaboration creates exciting opportunities for authors and publishers to introduce their books to one of the world’s largest children’s book markets. Selected titles may be professionally translated, published, and distributed throughout China while authors retain ownership of their copyrights outside the licensed Chinese-language edition.

Whether you are an author, or publisher, we invite you to explore this exciting opportunity to bring your stories to young readers around the world.

Is your story is ready for a global stage? Submit your book today!

Authors are invited to submit their book for review. Story Monsters Press may choose to represent selected titles and submit them to the Chinese publisher for consideration.

  • Submission fee: $25 per title (non-refundable)

  • Submission fee covers review, evaluation, administration, and submission preparation.

  • You are welcome to submit more than one book. Each book must be entered individually and a submission fee paid for each book.

  • The Chinese publisher handles translation, production, and publication with no additional fees for Chinese-language publication.

Please note: Books that are submitted for review are required to be family-friendly and/or non-denominational. Story Monsters® reserves the right to refuse books that do not meet this criteria.

Chinese Publishing Program Timeline

While timelines may vary, the estimated process for the Chinese Publishing Program is as follows:

  • Approximately 3 months:
We expect to know whether your book has been selected by the Story Monsters® Team for consideration and submission to the Chinese publisher.

  • Approximately 4 additional months:
The Chinese publisher will review the submitted titles and determine which books they would like to publish.

  • Approximately 3 months after selection:
For books selected for publication by the Chinese publisher, the first royalty payment is expected to be received once the publisher places its initial order.

Please note: Timelines may vary. You will be notified if your book is selected by the Chinese publisher for publication.

If your title is selected, the Chinese publisher will be responsible for:

  • Translating your book into Chinese

  • Editing and preparing the translated edition

  • Designing and producing the book

  • Printing the books

  • Marketing and distributing the Chinese-language edition throughout Mainland China

  • Managing all production and publication expenses

There are no translation, production, printing, publishing, or distribution costs to the author or rights holder.

Revenue Sharing

–50% to the author
–50% to Story Monsters Press
Payments are made within 4 weeks once funds are received from the Chinese publishing partner.

The 50/50 split applies only to the royalty payments actually received by Story Monsters Press® from the Chinese publisher.
It is not based on the retail selling price of the book or on the publisher’s total sales revenue.

Foreign rights royalties are generally much lower than domestic publishing royalties. While the royalty paid by an overseas publisher may seem modest, it is important to understand that the publisher assumes all of the costs and financial risk associated with bringing your book to a new market.

Many authors consider international publication to be a wonderful opportunity. Your work has the potential to reach new readers in another country.
